InfoComm welcomes the Genelec Smart IP loudspeaker family
12. - 15.6.2024
Bringing together manufacturers, integrators, dealers, and end-users from around the world to celebrate the latest technologies, products, and services, this year’s InfoComm show hosted 833 exhibitors and welcomed a post-COVID record of 30,271 visitors from 125 countries. Like ISE earlier this year, there was a genuine feeling of positivity around the show as exhibitors and visitors are once again enjoying the post-pandemic experience of meeting face-to-face.
On the Genelec booth, our European and US teams joined forces to showcase our Smart IP family of networked loudspeakers, including the brand new 3440A PoE subwoofer – which was making its official global debut at the show, and was also the recipient of Commercial Integrator’s prestigious BEST Award in the Installed Loudspeakers and Subwoofers category.
The 3440A joins the existing Smart IP range of wall, ceiling, and pendant loudspeaker models to provide a scalable full-range audio solution that combines exceptional sound quality and networked convenience. Operating via a single CAT cable, all Smart IP models produce studio-quality audio with superb clarity, intelligibility and uniform coverage, and can be freely combined on a Dante or AES67 network.
The compact design of the 3440A features a 165 mm (6.5 in) driver, an efficient 70 W internal Class D amplifier stage and dual reflex ports, delivering clean, controlled low frequency performance between 35 and 120 Hz and an impressive 106 dB of short-term SPL whenever needed. Our power-saving Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) circuitry provides further efficiency by activating a low power ‘sleep’ mode if no audio is detected for a defined period.
Available in black or white finishes, the 3440A can be discreetly integrated into any environment, and can either be positioned on the floor, or mounted on the wall or ceiling via an optional heavy duty bracket. Designed, assembled, and tested at our headquarters in Iisalmi, the 3440A is designed to provide decades of reliable performance in even the most challenging environments.
In conversations with the many visitors on the booth, it’s clear that networked audio is increasingly being deployed across AV projects, and the ability to create scalable full-range Smart IP loudspeaker systems powered via PoE has huge potential. All the Smart IP models were running live on the booth, controlled by a Crestron touch panel via Smart IP’s public API, and it was a joy to see the smiles that accompanied audio demos – with customers wide-eyed in amazement that PoE can produce such fidelity and staggering levels of SPL!
We’d like to thank the many new faces – and familiar old friends – that stopped by the booth, and we look forward to seeing you all again at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando, Florida.
